relation both to his service and his qualifications

(which are high) and we consider it adequate.

64. Mr. Hon U-no, General Foreman, Buildings

Ordinance Office has also asked that he shall be kept

level with the Waterworks Inspectors whose pre-

revision scale was the same as his own. We see no

reason to recommend any departure from the valuation

placed on these posts by the Commission.

The Director of Public Works has asked that

the salary scale of his motor driver shall be increased

to $660 - $780 as

Survey Coolies. In order that adequate

recognition may be given to the long service and

experience of a number of the coolies in the Survey

sub-department we recommend that one Head Survey

Coolie's post shall be created for each separate

Surveyor's gang, carrying the salary allotted in the Report to the Head Survey Coolie i.e. $280 - $360 by

$20 annually. We understand that the number of

separate gangs is at present eight.
